Ghani off to Washington for talks with Biden

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has left Washington on a two-day visit for talks his US counterpart Joe Biden and other officials, the Presidential Palace said on Thursday.

Heading a high-level delegation, Ghani would meet US official and members of the US congress and senate, said a statement from the Palace.

Talks between the two sides will focus on the new chapter in relations between the allies, further strengthening of diplomatic ties and financing, equipment and support for the security and defence forces.

Views will be exchanged on US-Afghanistan cooperation in economic and development sectors and the joint fight against terrorism.

First Vice-President Amrullah Saleh, HCNR head Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Foreign Minister Hanif Atmar, NSA Hamdullah Mohib, Wahid Omar, Abdul Matin Bek, Dr. Habib Surabi, Fatima Gilani and Shahirzad Akbar are accompanying the president.
