KABUL (Pajhwok): India has spurned as incorrect media reports that it is closing down its diplomatic missions in Afghanistan.

India was closely monitoring the evolving security situation, particularly around the cities of Kandahar and Mazar-i-Sharif, the Indian embassy in Kabul tweeted.

“Media reports on #India closing its Embassy & Consulates in AF are incorrect. @IndianEmbKabul, Consulates in Kandahar & Mazar are open, functioning.”

The embassy wrote: “We do, however, continue to closely monitor the evolving security situation, particularly around Kandahar & Mazar cities.”

Last week, the embassy asked all Indians visiting, staying and working in Afghanistan to exercise utmost caution in terms of their security.

The Indians were urged to avoid all types of non-essential travel in view of increasing incidents of violence in the war-ravaged country.
