KABUL (Pajhwok): At the head of a high-level delegation, President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday left for Uzbekistan to attend an international conference in Tashkent.

The two-day Conference — Central and South Asia Regional Interconnectivity, Challenges and Opportunities — is an initiative of Uzbekistan’s president.

Beginning today, the event is being attended by representatives from 40 countries. The conference is aimed to boost relations among participating states.

On the sidelines of the conference, Ghani will meet his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.

President Ghani will also hold separate meetings with representatives from other countries on continued bilateral cooperation in different areas.

He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Hanif Atmar, Minister of Finance Mohammad Khalid Painda and Abdul Matin Bek, the president’s chief of staff.
