PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A number of employees of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department of central Logar province clashed verbally and physically with the director of the department.
Abdul Khalil Rahmani, engineer with the Logar Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Ashiqullah Ikhlasyar, the director of the department, often created problems for employees and insulted them.
“Yesterday he again insulted us and forced us to react. The director got angry and entered a verbal and physical clash with some employees and then opened fire,” he said.
He said he got his hand broken in the clash before police arrived and controlled the situation,
Another employee of the department, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the director opened fire on the employees and had a physical altercation with them.
Ashiqullah Ikhlasyar declined to comment. Logar governor’s spokesman Didar Long confirmed a verbal altercation between the director and his staff, but said the director did not shoot or insult anyone.
“There was a problem, but the governor’s office intervened and now the problem is solved.”
It is worth mentioning that Ikhlasyar was recently transferred from Paktia province to Logar province for the second time as the director of rural rehabilitation and development.
