Peaceful Afghanistan to strengthen regional connectivity: Neighbors

KABUL (Pajhwok): Representatives from six neighboring countries of Afghanistan in a video meeting agreed that peace in the war-torn country would strengthen the region’s economy and ties.

Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special envoy to Afghanistan, wrote on his twitter account that representatives of China, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan attended the virtual meeting chaired by him.

According to Khan, the current situation was discussed at the meeting and the participants called for peace, security, stability in Afghanistan and prosperity of the entire region. He said the participants agreed to stay in close contact.

On Saturday, Gen. Faiz Hameed, the head of Pakistan’s Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI), arrived in Kabul to hold talks with Afghan officials on bilateral relations.

The United Nations is also scheduled to hold a meeting in Geneva on September 13 to discuss humanitarian aid for Afghanistan.
