KABUL (Pajhwok):  Ariana Afghan Airlines (AAA) will resume international flights next week, says the new head of the national flag carrier.

In an interview, Qari Rahmatullah Gulzad extolled assistance from Qatar and Turkey in getting Kabul airport operational in a short time.

After the Taliban’s takeover of the country, AAA’s domestic flights from Kabul to Herat, Kandahar and Balkh provinces resumed on Sept. 4

Talks were ongoing on restarting flights between Kabul and New Delhi, Qari Gulzad, told Anadolu Agency.

Before their departure from Afghanistan, US troops damaged Kabul terminals, AAA planes, workshop, hangar and offices.

Lauding support from the two countries, the AAA president said: “The Qatari and Turkish technical teams enabled us to resume flight operations.”

International flights to New Delhi restart in in a couple of days, according to Gulzad, who said flights to Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia would also resume soon.
