Khoshamand residents demand reopening of schools

SHARAN (Pajhwok): The residents of Khoshamand district in southeastern Paktika province demand the reopening of schools for children after the security situation has improved there.

They raised the demand during a meeting with Paktika Governor Maulvi Mohammad EsaYasin.

The residents said due to insecurity in the past, children were unable to go to schools.

Abdul Khaliq, one of the meeting participants, said the Khoshamand district children could not go to school over the past two decades.

“The previous government was unable to open schools for our children in the past 20 years. Our children right to education was undermined.”

Governor Yasin said education was the legitimate right of every Afghan and the Taliban were striving to ensure education facilities to every child.

“All approved schools have been opened and we are trying to provide them with more facilities,” he said.
