Prominent doctor kidnapped in Mazar-i-Sharif

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A prominent doctor has been kidnapped by unidentified individuals in Mazar-i-Sharif city, capital of northern Balkh province, his son said Tuesday.

Ahmad Zobin Alimi told Pajhwok Afghan News that his father, Dr.Nadir Alimi was kidnapped in front of his house in the ninth police district of Mazar-i-Sharif city on Monday afternoon.

He said that he had shared the case with the local administration who assured him that his father would be rescued.

Alimi said that his father was not a political figure and had no any personal enmity with anyone. He added that they did not know the motive behind the kidnapping of his father.

Meanwhile, acting director of information and culture of Balkh, MualviZabihullahNoorani, confirmed the incident and said that efforts were on to rescue the doctor from his kidnappers.

He said that kidnapping cases had reached almost zero with the arrival of Taliban to the government and those involved in this incident would be arrested and punished.

Dr. Nadir Alimi is a prominent neurologist in Mazar-i-Sharif city, who also runs a private clinic in the city.
