KABUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban have prevented the smuggling of 25 tonnes of lapis lazuli in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Deputy information and culture minister, Zabihullah Mujahid, tweeted that security personnel had prevented the smuggling of 25 tonnes of lapis lazuli in the province during a detective operation.
He said that three smugglers had also been arrested in connection with the smuggling.
