Thousands of students get school bags, stationary

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Students of 150 schools in western Farah province were distributed school bags and stationary under the ‘Global partnership for education’ scheme, an official said on Tuesday.

Education Director Mawlavi Akhtar Mohammad Zaeem thanked the assisting organisations for promoting education in Afghanistan and demanded more assistance and cooperation in this regard.

“Majority of children and youth specially in districts have been deprived of education facilities and now that we are responsible, it is our task to promote education in every part of the country,” he said.

Mohammad Shafiq Babokarkhel, in charge of Wadan Organisation who was in charge of distributing school bags, said The process of distributing bags was underway and for the first time 75,000 students, including girls, were provided school bags.

Besides the school bags assistance, 150 teachers would be hired for some schools where education was affected due to Covid-19.

Asma, a seven-year-old student from Farah City, said she loved going to school but she had no money to buy notebooks and write homework.
