Afghanistan, Uzbekistan task technical teams for key projects

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan and Uzbek officials have discussed the Sarkhan-Pul-e-Khamri 500 Kilowatt electricity supply cable, Mazar-e-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway track projects and appointed technical teams for the implementation of these projects, according to a statement on Sunday.

A statement from the Ministry of Information and Cultural Affairs said that a high level Afghan delegation on the head of Acting Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Salaam Hanafi visited Uzbekistan on Saturday and returned late in the day after successful talks.

Bilateral traded, increase in the supply of fuel during upcoming winter, support in health related issues, Sarkhan-Pul-e-Khumri 500 Kilowatt electricity supply line, and a railway track between Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan was discussed.

Both sides agreed to appoint technical teams on different projects to chalk out practical steps for the mega projects. These technical teams would report to their leaders about future steps.

Report on technical issues would be completed in 10 days and would be handed over to the leadership of both the countries.
