Cooking oil, Russian gold prices up in Kabul markets

KABUL (Pajhwok): This week in Kabul markets the prices of cooking oil and Russian Gold surged, sugar declined while Afghani continued to depreciate against dollar.

Zmarai Safi, head of the Traders Association told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of 49 kilograms of Indian sugar declined from 2,900 afs to 2,850 afs on Saturday.

He said sugar declined due to increase in import and decline in its demand, according to Safi.

He said today (Saturday) the price of 16 litre Malysian cooking oil surged from 52,550 afs to 2,600 afs  but there was no major difference in the prices of other commodities.

Today (Saturday), the wholesale price of 49-kilogram of Kazakh flour was 2,200 afs — same as last Saturday price —- 24-kilogram of Pakistani rice 2,400 afs, one-kilogram green Indonesia tea 350 afs and one kilogram of black African team 380 afs.

There was slight difference in the retail prices of some items this week compared to the previous week.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer in the Dahni Bagh Food Market, said the retail price of 49 kilogram of Kazakh flour was 2,250 afs, the price of 24-kilogram of Pakistani rice was 2,450 afs, 49-kilogram of Indian Sugar accounted for 2,950 afs, 16 litre Malysian cooking oil accounted for 2,650 afs, one-kilogram of green Indonesian team stood at 360 afs and one kilogram of black African tea accounted for 390 afs.

The price of petroleum product remained unchanged as of last week.

According to Ahmadyar Group the price of one litre of petrol accounted for 78 afs and one litre diesel was 71 afs.

Mohammad Sharif a gas seller in Kolola Pushta area said one kilogram retail price of gas was 90 afs.

Mohammad Javed, a jewelry seller in the Licy Maryam Market said one gram of Arabic gold Ayar 750 accounted for 3,450 afs.

He added there was slight surge in the Russian gold price. This week one gram of Russian gold Ayar 585 surged from 3,400 to 3,450 in Kabul markets.

Today (Saturday) one dollar was accounted for 92 afs while 1,000 Pakistani rupee accounted for 500 afs.
