Panel set up to clean up Taliban ranks in Bamyan, Daikundi

BAMYAN CITY/NELLI (Pajhwok): The Taliban have formed a commission to filter individuals in their ranks, an official said on Thursday.

Information Director Saifur Rahman Mohammadi said the commission jerked into action on Wednesday.

He said Governor Abdullah Sarhadi would monitor the process of purging Taliban’s ranks of unwanted elements.

Commission head Saiful Islam said: “Murderers and tyrants have no place in the Islamic Emirate and we are working hard to reform our ranks.”

Meanwhile, a statement from the Daikundi governor’s office also confirmed the formation of the commission to clean up the Taliban’s ranks.

Obaidullah Faizani, provincial intelligence head, will lead the commission while three more members from the governor’s house, police and the Red Force Unit will also be part of the panel.

The statement said 100 unwanted individuals had been excluded from the group so far.

It added a dozen individuals arrested in Ajristan, Gizab and Kajran districts for having links with Daesh had been freed.
