Logar residents want halt to deer hunt

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The residents of central Logar province are complaining about the growing hunting of deer in mountainous areas of the country and asked the government to stop the hunt of wild animals.

Gulab Shah, a tribal elder, said: “The Sapesah and Abchakan areas of Pul-i-Alam have deer.” The number of deer has increased recently in these mountainous areas but unfortunately, people are hunting them mercilessly.

“Hunters equipped with laser guns hunt deer that it cannot escape from them. This is unfair, if it continues, the generation of deer will be finished.”

Abdullah, a resident of Abchakan locality, said the residents of the locality go to the mountains with advanced guns and hunt deer.

“Security officials are also involved in deer hunt besides residents of the locality. They hunt deer with laser guns and this trend has increased in the last two months,” he said.

Logar Governor Spokesperson Umar Mansour said they have not received any complain in this regard so far.

He said security officials had been informed and if any individual was caught involved in this illegal act will be held and treated as per law.

He said Islamic Emirate in the past banned animal hunt and it remains banned at this stage too. Violators of this order will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
