KABUL (Pajhwok): The Foreign Ministry in Tehran says Iran is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in transportation of Indian humanitarian aid to the war-hit country through its territory.
Fars News Agency reported Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian said in a telephone conversation with his Indian counterpart S. Shankar that his country was willing to support the transfer of India’s assistance to Afghanistan.
The Indian government announced in October last year the delivery of 50,000 tonnes of wheat and medicine to Afghanistan and asked Pakistan to allow the shipment of the assistance to Afghanistan through its routes.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said India could transport wheat and medicine to Afghanistan via Torkham on Afghan trucks, something which has not been done so far.
