Hundreds of families in Samangan receive food, winter aid

AIBAK (Pajhwok): The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARSC) has distributed foodstuff and other essential items to 460 needy families in northern Samangan province, officials said Sunday.

NajibullahAlipor, ARCS head in Samangan, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the aid was provided by Turkey and was distributed to 640 families in Aibak, the provincial capital.

Each families received five food items, he said, adding that 10 kilograms of rice, five liters of ghee, a kilogram of sugar, seven kilograms of bean and can of tomato paste was distributed to these families.

A winter clothes package was also distributed to each of these families that included clothes for women, men and children, he said.

Mohammad Hasham, 35, a resident of Zahr village of Aibak city, who received the aid, said, “We ask officials to increase aid to needy people in this situation, because it is a winter season and we are in need of more help.”

Turkish Red Crescent head is in capital Kabul since two days for assessing the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
