Market fire in Panjshir causes 800,000 afs in damage

PARAKH (Pajhwok): A fire that swept through a supermarket in Qabzadan area of Rakha district in central Panjshir province caused 800,000 afghanis in damage, local officials said Tuesday.

Qari Abdul Jalal Faisal, Rakha district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the fire which was erupted on Monday night did not cause any human casualties.

Firefighters did not reach on time to extinguish the fire due to some technical problems, he said without giving details.

He said that shop owners and supermarkets should be aware of fire vulnerabilities in their business areas so it would help prevent such incidents.

Asadullah, the owner of the market, said he had invested 800,000 afghanis in the business and all his property was reduced to ashes.

“If the firefighters had arrived on time, the damage would not have been that much,” he said.
