Incomplete projects: North basin head visits Samangan

AIBAK (Pajhwok): Director Northern Zone Basin and his delegation arrived in Aibak, the capital of northern Samangan province, to evaluate incomplete projects in the province.

Mulavi Abdul Hakim aka Haji Hikmat speaking to provincial officials, said that the purpose of their visit to the province was to evaluate the problems in KhulmAibak Basin, irrigation water and incomplete projects in the province.

He said that six projects worth 28 million afghanis funded by the World Bank have been implemented between 2020 and 2021 in Samangan.

He added that reconstruction work on 11 irrigation dams worth 18 million afghanis in Samangan has also been completed.

Hikmat said that the Ministry of Water and Energy has the plan to implement 47 infrastructural projects worth 433 million afghanis and 14 dam projects worth 85 million afghanis in the country during the upcoming 1401 solar year.

Mullah Mohammad EmranAnas, head of KhulamAibak Basin, said that the main problem of Samangan people was shortage of irrigation water.

He said that current amount of water in Samangan River could meet only 30 percent of irrigation water in the province.

Anas suggested that irrigation water canals of the province should be cleansed in cooperation with the World Food Program.
