Clearing operation underway in Kabul, nearby areas

KABUL (Pajhwok): The government has launched a clearing operation in Kabul and other nearby provinces, saying no civilians or homes would be harmed and people would be treated well.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said forces from three organs (Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior and Intelligence) led by Deputy Minister of Defense Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Fazil Mazloom had launched extensive operation in Kabul and several other nearby provinces.

He did not name other provinces in the statement.

Since this morning, security forces have been searching streets in some areas of the 10th and 11th security districts of Kabul and have also searched some houses in some areas.

Zabihullah Mujahid said the operation was aimed at capturing and eliminating “all kinds of thieves, kidnappers, evil elements and other criminals” who had already been detected and monitored by security forces in the areas.

Mujahid added: “No civilians or houses will be harmed during these operations. All precautionary measures have been taken and people will be treated well.”

“We urge the people of these provinces and regions to assist their security forces in providing information so that they do not feel intimidated by the operation,” he added.

“Because these operations have been launched for the better security, reassurance and satisfaction of people and the citizens of Kabul, businessmen and other citizens.”

Mujahid says if anyone is not guilty or has no connection with criminals, they will have no problem, all people should stay calm in their homes and places and help their security forces.
