KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) says more than a million electronic identity cards have been distributed in the past six months across the country.
In a statement, NSIA said 741,000 cards were distributed to people in Kabul, nearly 50,000 in Nangarhar, 34,000 in Herat, 31,000 in Balkh, 30,000 in Khost, 18,000 in Kandahar and the rest in other provinces.
The process of distribution of e-NICs is ongoing in 21 provinces — Kabul, Nangarhar, Kunar, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Logar, Kandahar, Zabul, Balkh, Herat, Jawzjan, Baghlan, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Kunduz, Farah, Samangan, Takhar, Panjsher and Uruzgan.
In a dozen provinces, including Kabul, online e-NIC remained active, the authority added.
