Fuel prices fall by over 5.6pc in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of fuel, ghee, flour, sugar and gold have dipped while the rate of rice has increased during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

A worker of the Ahmadyar Group Fuel Station in Kabul told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of a liter of petrol decreased from 73 afghanis to 68 afghanis and the same quantity of diesel from 82afs to 78afs.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kalola Pushta area of Kabul, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity was increased from 76afs to 72afs.

A worker of Ahmadyar Group said that the reason behind decreased prices of fuel was due to the fall of US dollar against afghani. He said that the Russian fuel yet to reach Afghanistan but the cost of the fuel would significantly decrease once fuel from Russia arrives to the country.

The price of rice has slightly increased.

Zamarai Safi, head of Food Traders Union in Kabul, said that the price of 24.5 kilograms of Pakistani rice increased from 2,450afs to 2,500afs this week.

However, he said that the price of a tin of 16 liters Malaysian ghee decreased from 2,700 to 2,650afs, a bag of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour from 2,350afs to 2,300afs and 49 kilograms of Indian sugar from 2,850afs to 2,800afs.

He said that a kilogram of African black tea cost 400afs and the same quantity of Indonesian green tea 350afs, the same rates of last week.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh area of Kabul said that the price of a bag of 49kg of Kazakhstani flour was 2,350afs, 24kg of rice 2,550afs, 49kg of Indian sugar 2,850afs , a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian ghee 2,700afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 400afs and the same quantity of African black tea 450afs, higher than wholesale rates.

The price of Arabian gold has decreased.

Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lycee Mariam area of Kabul said that the price of one gram of Arabian gold fell from 4,500afs to 4,400afs while the same quantity of Russian variety stayed at 3,500afs.

Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada Market in Kabul, said that one US dollar accounted for 87afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 480afs compared to last week’s rates of 88afs and 480afs respectively.
