Afghanistan interested in regional connectivity: Muttaqi

KABUL (Pajhwok): After political change in Afghanistan last year,  the foreign ministers of Afghanistan, China and Pakistan held their maiden three way meeting on Wednesday .

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement quoted Acting Foreign Minister Ameer Khan Muttaqisaid as saying at the meeting that the new Afghanistan government wanted close ties with China and Pakistan.

He said best opportunities were available for economic cooperation in the region, therefore it was vital that the three countries cooperate with each other.

He said Afghanistan was interested in regional cooperation by connecting Central Asia with South Asia.

He added Afghanistan wanted its products to reach China and India through Pakistan.

Chines Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that through trilateral mechanism the three countries will continue their cooperation.

He stressed the three countries should increase and deepen their political and economic interaction.
