2.6m people assisted in Afghanistan last year: FAO

KABUL (Pajhwok): The UN Agriculture and Food Organisation (FAO) has said 2.26 million people in far-flung areas of Afghanistan were provided with emergency assistance in 2021.

On its twitter handle FAO said 1.3 million people were provided agriculture packages, some were provided livestock protection packages, and some cash assistance.

According to the FAO, 23,800 people were provided aid packages for poultry farming, 99,610 people were given away equipment for fruit farming and 433013 others provided awareness training.

According to the source, 3,571 families aided with improving livestock milk production, 654 women provided training for food processing, while 343,013 others provided training on Covid-19.
