Fuel prices down by 5pc in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of fuel have dipped while the rates rice, ghee, flour and sugar have increased during the outgoing week in the capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

A worker of the Ahmadyar Group Fuel Station in Kabul told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of a liter of petrol decreased from 74 afghanis to 66 afghanis and the same quantity of diesel from 74afs to 72afs.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kalola Pushta area of Kabul, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity was decreased from 68afs to 66afs.

Some food prices increased.

Zamarai Safi, head of Food Traders Union in Kabul, said that the price of 24.5 kilograms of Pakistani rice increased from 2,450afs to 2,500afs, a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian ghee from 2,700afs to 2,850afs, a bag of 49kg of Kazakhstani flour from 2,350afs to 2,450afs and a bag of 49kg of Indian sugar from 2,750afs to 2,800afs.

He said that the prices of some food items increased following the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

However, Safi said that a kilogram of African black tea cost 400afs and the same quantity of Indonesian green tea 350afs, the same rates of last week.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh area of Kabul said that the price of a bag of 49kg of Kazakhstani flour was 2,500afs, 24kg of rice 2,550afs, 49kg of Indian sugar 2,850afs , a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian ghee 2,900afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 400afs and the same quantity of African black tea 450afs, higher than wholesale rates.

Gold price remain unchanged.

Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lycee Mariam area of Kabul said that the price of one gram of Arabian gold was 4,400afs and the same quantity of Russian variety 3,500afs.

Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada Market in Kabul, said that one US dollar accounted for 87afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees, the same exchange rates of last week.
