AIBAK (Pajhwok): At least 964 individuals have been provided with work in return for wheat in northern Samangan province, an official said on Tuesday.
The Agriculture Department, in cooperation with the Municipality and Rural Rehabilitation Department, launched the scheme titled work for wheat.
Fazal Rahman Saee, spokesman for the Agriculture Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “The programme, the first of its kind, has been launched in Dara-i-Sauf Payeen district, where 964 workers have been hired.”
He added each worker would receive 10 kilograms of wheat. The workers would get a total of 94 tonnes of wheat.
Mullah Yaqeen, a farmer from the district, appreciated the initiative, saying many youth were jobless and this programme would help provide them with work.
He hoped this scheme would help poor families earn livelihoods and also make the city clean and tidy.
