Abdul Rauf is not in good health, says father

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The father of Abdul Rauf says he has not paid money to anyone for his son’s release and that his son’s health and mental condition is worrisome.

Kidnapped two years ago, the minor was rescued by security forces and reunited with his family.

Haji Mohammad Nabi, Abdul Rauf’s father, called his son’s return a dream and said he could not believe his son had returned. He said he had bitter days in the past two years and had been attacked five times.

According to him, in these five attacks, seven people, including his nephew, driver and bodyguards were killed and 47 more were wounded including his brother and employees.

He informed the government captured 21 individuals in connection with the kidnapping of Abdul Rauf. The 21 men included those who had abducted and tortured his son.

About Abdul Rauf’s health condition, Nabi said his son’s physical and mental condition was not good as his feet ached and he could not walk properly.

He rejected the rumors that Abdul Rauf was released after payment of ransom, saying he had not paid anyone for the release of his son.

He appreciated the caretaker government’s efforts and fight against abductors, saying the government should help people in such incidents and cases.

Abdul Rahman Suhbat, grandfather of Abdul Rauf, said the past two years were extremely difficult for them.

He accused some people of Abdul Rauf’s kidnapping and said these people had close relations with Junbish party leader Abdul Rasheed Dostum.

Suhbad also denied the claims that Abdul Rauf was released against money.

He thanked the government security and intelligence forces as they helped a lot in releasing Abdul Rauf.

However, the government did not provide details about the release of Abdul Rauf, but Balkh intelligence director Abdul Abid said 21 suspects had been detained in connection with the kidnapping and their cases were handed over to the court.
