Flour price up, sugar down in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of Kazakhstani flour has increased while that of sugar dipped during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Zamarai Safi, head of Food Traders Union in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of a bag of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour increased from 2,400 afghanis to 2,450 afghanis.

However, he said that the price of a bag of 49 kilograms of Pakistani sugar decreased from 2,850afs to 2,800afs.

He said that a bag of 24.5kg of Pakistani rice cost 2,500afs, a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian ghee 2,950afs, a kilogram of African black tea 400afs and the same quantity of Indonesian green tea 350afs, the same rates of last week’s.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh area of Kabul said that the price of a bag of 49kg of Kazakhstani flour was 2,500afs, 24kg of rice 2,550afs, 49kg of Indian sugar 2,850afs , a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian ghee 3,000afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 400afs and the same quantity of African black tea 450afs, higher than wholesale rates.

Fuel prices remain stable.

A worker of Ahmadyar Group Fuel Station in Kabul said that the price of one liter of petrol was 68afs and the same quantity of diesel 78afs.

Gold prices also remain stable.

Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lycee Mariam area of Kabul said that the price of one gram of Arabian gold was 4,300afs and the same quantity of Russian variety 3,300afs.

Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada Market in Kabul, said that one US dollar accounted for 86afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 470afs the same as last week’s exchange rates.
