KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): A number of orphaned students in the state-run orphanage in northern Kunduz province have complained about lack of study materials and other facilities and urged the government to provide them with fair educational opportunities.
Local officials acknowledge the lack of facilities and equipment at the orphanage and say efforts are being made to resolve existing challenges.
Mohibullah, one of the orphans, said facilities were very limited in the kindergarten and they could not properly study.
Noorullah, another child, also complained about lack of resources and said government, NGOs and teachers should cooperate with the students so that they could study properly.
One of the orphanage teachers AsadullahAhmadi said: “Children in the orphanage are bareheaded. Currently children studying here are facing shortage of stationary and shortage of other facilities. No NGO is there to cooperate with them.”
Kunduz Social Affairs Department Director Mawlavi Ahmad SahHaqqani acknowledged present challenges and said: “After the approval of new budget these problems would be resolved. We want welfare organizations to cooperate the way they were cooperating in the past. ”
It is pertinent to mention that currently over 80 orphaned students are provided education and training in the Kunduz orphanage.
