Charity organization building hospital in Daikundi

NEILI (Pajhwok): Public health officials of central Daikundi province say a charity organization ‘AyatullahFayyaz Foundation’ has started construction of a 20-bed hospital in Ashtarli district of the province.

SayedIshaqHussaini, deputy Daikundi public health director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that they welcomed the move and said the hospital would resolve health related problems of the people of the district.

“It is a great move, considering the long and impassable roads of Daikundi, the construction of such hospitals can be helpful in reducing health problems of the districts,” he said.

He added that there are a total of 126 healthcare centers and 23 mobile health centers in Daikundi assisted by nine health organizations.

Hussaini said that 74 of the health centers have standard buildings and seven others are without good buildings, while work is underway to construct buildings for 11 other health centers.

He added that 32 health centers are without buildings and five other centers are built by local people in districts of the province.

Hussaini described the health services in Daikundi as normal, saying that there is now enough medicine in the provincial healthcare centers for patients.

On the other hand, SayedHabibullahAkbari, the provincial head of AyatullahFayyaz Foundation, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the building for the healthcare center would be built in Band-i-Mazar area of Ashtarli district.

He said that the 20-bed building would include obstetrics and gynecology departments, an operating room, a laboratory, an emergency department, a specialized treatment unit, and an administrative department.

He said that the budget for the building’s construction was not yet specified but it would take 18 months to complete.

Meanwhile, local residents termed the hospital construction a good move and welcomed it.

Reza Samim, a resident of Ashtarli district, said there was no standard health center in the district and construction of the hospital would resolve most of their problems.

He said that many patients had lost their lives due to impassable routes to reach the provincial capital.
