26 different weapons seized in Jalalabad operation

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Security forces have seized 26 different weapons and ammunition during a search operation in the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.

A spokesman for the Khalid bin Waleed Corps in the east, Maulvi Wahidullah Mohammadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News on Tuesday that led by the 3rd Brigade of the corps, Nangarhar Police and Intelligence Department launched a clearing operation in Jalalabad.

He said the operation was carried out in Qasba, Bez Akmalati, Khoshgunbad and Majboor Abad areas of Jalalabad city. As a result, 26 different weapons were seized.

He said 1200 bullets, 24 magazines, 11 military beds, binoculars, armor and other military equipment had been seized during the operation.

According to Maulvi Mohammadi, the operation was aimed at strengthening security and preventing anti-government activities.

The operation comes amid a recent spate of robberies and kidnappings in Nangarhar in the name of security forces.

Also yesterday, a group of armed kidnappers was arrested after setting up a checkpoint in Momandara district in the name of the Taliban and kidnapping three traders.
