KABUL (Pajhwok): The Russian president is scheduled to visit Tehran next week for talks his Iranian and Turkish counterparts, says the Kremlin’s spokesman.

Vladimir Putin would discuss issues of common interest with his Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan,

TASS news agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as telling a press briefing in Moscow on Tuesday. “Arrangements are underway for the president’s visit to Tehran…”

The July 19 meetings, trilateral and bilateral, in Tehran would help promote the Astana peace process, the official hoped.

The three leaders had initiated a political settlement in Syria, acting as guarantors for the peace process. Damascus officials and Syrian opposition members were also involved in the talks.
