LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Eight people have been arrested for allegedly smuggling iron to Pakistan in the Garamser district of southern Helmand province.
Maulvi Mohammad Qasim Riaz, director of information and culture, told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees wanted to transfer the iron illegally to Pakistan but they were arrested by security forces.
The smugglers were arrested along with three iron-ore laden vehicles. The detainees were introduced to judicial organs, Riaz said.
