BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Education officials in central Bamyan province complain about a shortage of teachers and schools without buildings.
Mohammad Alam Fazil, an official of the Education Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “We are facing various problems, including lack of 2,000 teachers, equipment and 60 schools without buildings.
With regard to achievements of the department, he said after the Taliban takeover, doors of schools had been opened for students and textbooks distributed to them.
He added schools were continuously evaluated in an effort to improve education quality in the province.
Abdul Hamid Sorosh, a school principal, said there was a shortage of eight teachers at the Qarghanatu High School — an issue that has not been resolved despite being shared several times with the department.
Abdullah, a student of Zakour High School, said: “Students are not being taught in teaching hours. Our school is also facing a shortage of teachers and other facilities.”
He claimed the persisting problems had discouraged students from attending their classes regularly.
Fazil said he had shared the issues with the Ministry of Education. He hoped the issues would be resolved at the earliest possible.
