Balkh’s Sholgara district attracts thousands of tourists

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Thousands of tourists daily visit Khwaja Sikandar and Shifa springs in the Sholgara district of northern Balkh province to enjoy pleasant weather.

Mohammad Hussain, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok Afghan News that hundreds of people daily arrived in the district for picnic and to view green areas.

Calling security situation in the Sholgara district as reliable, Hussain said after the fall of the previous regime, the number of tourists has increased.

A tourist Ghulam Yahya said Khwaja Sikandar’s spring recently attracted countless tourists due to its cold and clean air.

He said daily countless people from different provinces visited Sholgara district which had beautiful natural areas.

Mehrabuddin, another resident of Balkh, said most areas of the district were beautiful and green besides the Khawaja Sikandar spring. He added the district had two springs Khawaja Sikandar and Shifa, as well as many other attractive areas and streams.

Meanwhile, local officials of the district say around 30000 tourists from Balkh, Saripul, Jawzjan and Samangan provinces visited the district last month.

Maulvi Muhammad Khan Fateh, the district police chief, said security in the district had been fully ensured and every day hundreds of people visited the district for recreation.

Fateh also informed about the construction of a park in the district and said about 30,000 tourists visited the district in the past one month.

After the political change in the country last year, many people now travel to different provinces to visit picturesque areas.
