KABUL (Pajhwok):  At least two civilians have been killed in an explosion at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium, authorities say.

Initially, police said 13 people were injured on Friday when the grenade blast occurred during a match between Pamir Zalmi and Band-e-Amir Dragons in the domestic T20 league.

The explosion was triggered by a grenade, according to Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran, who said the incident caused a short delay play.

A 12 dozen wounded people were evacuated to the Emergency Hospital, the Italian-run medical facility tweeted. One injured was discharged after being treated.

Late on Saturday, Zadran said two civilians had lost their lives in the attack, for which there was no immediate claim of responsibility.

Foreign and local cricketers and staff members escaped unhurt in the blast that came during the 22nd match of the Shpageeza Cricket League between Pamir Zalmi and the Band-e-Amir Dragons.

Band-e-Amir Dragons raced to the target of 94 in 10 overs for the loss of only one wicket, with almost three overs to spare.
