KABUL (Pajhwok): The Central Passport Office (CPO) issued 714,000 passports and collected over four billion afghanis revenue during the past one year, an official said on Tuesday.
The number of daily issued passports would be increased from the current 4,000 to 10,000 over the next one month, Sher Shah Qureshi, assistant head of the CPO, told reporters here.
He said in the past one year, 714,337 passports were issued to applicants through online and offline forms which generated 4,055,582,250 afs revenue.
He said a contract for printing three million more passport copies had been prepared with support of the ministries of interior, foreign affairs and finance and these passports would be available with the government soon.
Qureshi said two million additional passports had been suggested by the Ministry of Interior which were handed over to the Ministry of Finance for technical purpose.
He said efforts had been made to identify fraud and corrupt elements and terminate them from their jobs.
