2 individuals killed, 8 wounded by recent rainfalls, floods in Kunar

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Two people have been killed and eight more wounded as a result of recent rainfalls and flash floods in eastern Kunar province, an official said on Saturday.

Ehsanullah, director of the Natural Disaster Management Authority in Kunar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Friday night rains and floods had inflected huge losses on the people in Asadabad City, Pech Dara, Sarkan, Dangam and other areas of the province.

He said one individual was killed in Dangam and another in Pech Dara district on Friday night. However, six people injured in Dangam and two more in Pech Dara districts.

At least 221 houses damaged, over 250 acres of agricultural land, one school, two mosques were damaged in Sarkan district.

Residents urged the government to provide shelters in addition to food assistance to the affected people of the province.
