Girl students rally in Herat against Kabul bombing

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Scores of girl students took to the streets in the capital of western Herat pronounce on Sunday.

Mostly from the minority Hazara community, the protesters marched from the University of Herat to the governor’s office.

Over 100 female students, asserting their right to education, vehemently denounced Friday’s deadly attack on the Kaaj Educational Centre in the Dasht-i-Barchi area of Kabul.

The suicide bombing, the latest in a string of recent attacks against the minority community, killed more than 20 and wounded dozens, mostly students sitting the university entrance test.

Outraged by the Kabul assault, the demonstrators shouted that genocide was a crime of the darkest dye. They vowed to continue pursuing higher education, saying ignorance was unacceptable.

A day earlier, women staged a similar protest, marching from Pul-i-Sukhta area to the Mohammad Ali Jinnah Hospital, where the injured girls are being treated.
