KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): A man in Karezak area of Dand district in southern Kandahar province has beheaded and killed his three sons as young as three years old, an official said on Tuesday.
Haji Zaid, head of the provincial media office, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Naqibullah, a resident of Karezak area, hid the bodies of his three sons in a cave after beheading them.
Zaid said security forces recovered the bodies of the victims and arrested the suspect for investigation. The suspect seems to have mental problems, Zaid added.
Mullah Abdul Raziq Akhund, the district chief, confirmed that Naqibullah had killed his sons aged 3, 9 and 13 years.
Akhund said that the suspect has been arrested and he has confessed to the killing of his sons because of economic problems.
“Naqibullah in his primary statements said he has economic problems and his children were begging. Naqibullah said people were taunting him because his sons were begging so he cut their throats”.
Jan, another resident of Karezak area and a neighbor of Naqibullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he did not have much information about the life of Naqibullah and the only thing he knew was that Naqibullah did not have a job and was suffering from mental problems.
Similar incidents had happened in Kandahar previously due to economic and mental problems.
