ATLANTIA (Pajhwok): US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West has met some former Afghan officials and political figures in Ankara.
In a series of tweets, West said: “Good to be in Ankara the past couple of days and to get advice from a range of Afghanistan’s diaspora about international engagement.”
West spoke with doctors, former deputy ministers, technical defence professionals and political leaders of Afghanistan.
“Heard universal concern re: targeting of Hazara community and tragic losses of youth and women, diminished space for journalists and media. All called for a concerted national dialogue about the future of Afghanistan.”
The diplomat wrote he urged Afghans both inside and outside Afghanistan to organise and speak with one voice to their communities and to the Islamic Emirate about the brighter future for children and families.
