Need for boosting Afghan transit trade underlined

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Kabul and Islamabad have been urged to initiate effective measures for the promotion of the Afghan transit trade.

Frontier Customs Clearing Agents Association head Ziaul Haq Sarhadi issued the call at a meeting on Friday.

The meeting that was attended by customs officials and Pakistan and Afghan businessmen associated with transit trade.

Sarhadi said concerns of the business community should be taken into consideration and steps taken to address them on priority.

Peshawar-based Transit Trade Director Arbab Qaisar Hamid said Afghan authorities had been asked to provide transit documents after updating their system.

He promised businesspeople from both countries of all possible cooperation, saying steps would be taken to remove hurdles impediments to transit trade.
