Jawzjan residents complain about broken, bumpy roads

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Residents of Qarqin and Khumab districts of northern Jawzjan province complain about dilapidated condition of their roads and say the previous government neglected the problem.

They ask the current acting government to address the issue.

Hafizullah, a resident of Qarqin district, said most part of the Qarqin-Shiberghan road is dirt and uneven, making it difficult for them to travel. “This one hour journey takes four hours. We have repeatedly asked the officials concerned to address the issue but in vain”, he said.

Hafizullah added: “As there are no medical services and health facilities in the districts, most patients die on these bumpy and broken roads to the provincial capital”.

KhudaiNazarNazari, a resident of Khumab district, accused the officials concerned of negligence towards reconstruction of the road.

Nazari added: “As there is much sand on the road, only four-wheel drive vehicles can travel on these roads, most of the times the cars got stuck in the sand and the patients die”.

Ustad Mohammad Mujahid, a senior official of Jawzjan province, acknowledged the worse condition of the roads, but said the issue will be addressed.

Mujahid added they had shared the issue of roads with officials in Kabul and the roads would be asphalted.
