Talks with US ongoing, no specific issue discussed: Mujahid

KABUL (Pajhwok): ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA)’ spokesperson ZabihullahMujahid on Saturday said relationship of a number of governments with the acting Afghan government was formal and bilateral and added that talks with the US were underway in Doha.

Mujahid said this during a press conference regarding his recent trip to Turkey.

He said during the trip he tried to explain the ‘real situation’ of the country and provide information regarding the structure of the incumbent government.

He said talks were held with leaders of Turkey Islamic political parties, influential personalities, Turkish and foreign businesspersons, industrialists and owners of big companies. They were told that Afghanistan was secure and they could invest without any hesitation.

He said during the trip, talks were also held with media representatives and they were invited to visit Afghanistan and observe the situation closely.

Referring to recent talks with the US, he said the talks were still underway in Doha and there was no discussion on a particular issue at high level.

Referring to the increase in deportation of Afghan refugees from Turkey, he said the matter of Afghan refugees’ deportation was shared with Turkish officials and they were urged to stop unnecessary deportation of Afghan refugees.

To a question when an all inclusive and permanent government will be announced, he did not provide details and said “The IEA has strived for inclusiveness and efforts are ongoing to announce a permanent government.”

He said a number of countries maintained bilateral and cordial ties with the IEA but these countries faced some problems to formally recognize the IEA government.

Regarding the creation of political parties outside the country, he said any political movement created outside the country was not in the interest of Afghanistan.

Mujahid travelled to Turkey 20 days ago to participate in a meeting of the Islamic Ulema Union Conference. During his stay there, he held several meetings with Turkish officials, businessmen and industrialists.
