Daily wagers struggle to find work in Badghis

QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Workers or daily wagers in western Badghis province complain about the lack of work and ask the authorities to provide them with work and address this problem.

Unemployment is the issue that the people of Afghanistan have been complaining about for years and many young people go to neighboring countries for work.

Sayed Mohmood, who is originally from Qala-i-Naw, said he daily waited at the city streets to find work.

He said his financial situation was not stable and he was the only breadwinner of a seven-member family.

He urged the caretaker government to find a solution to the problem. “It’s been three days now that we have nothing to eat at house.”

According to Mahmood, there are dozens of others like him say that finding work has become difficulty for laborers.

Abdul Jalil, 53, who is suffering from joblessness and struggling to earn a livelihood. He said not only there was no employment but the wages were also low.

Maulvi Tor Jan Khademi, director of social and labor department, said the donor organizations launched programs in the districts that through which people would find work.

He said the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ was striving to provide job opportunities for jobless people.

He hoped that the unemployment would be eradicated from the country.
