KABUL (Pajhwok): Five members of a family have been gunned down in limits of the 9th police district of Kabul, a police official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Khalid Zadran told Pajhwok Afghan News: “A man shot dead five members of a family with his pistol inside a mosque in the Khawaja Rawash area of Kabul.”
He said preliminary investigations indicated that personal enmity was the motive behind the incident. Security forces have launched a probe into the shooting.
A resident of the area, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the fatalities — a man and his four sons. He said the shooting occurred at the gate to the mosque early in the morning.
He said the two families had enmity, but a few years ago tribal elders brought about reconciliation between them.
Without going into details, he said several people were injured in the dawn attack.
