Thousand vulnerable families receive food, cash aid in Samangan, Bamyan

KABUL (Pajhwok): Over 4,000 less fortunate people have received food assistance in central Bamyan province while 931 other needy families distributed cash assistance in northern Samangan province.

Ahmad Usmani, a World Food Programme (WFP), official in Bamyan province said 4,600 less fortunate families in Bamyan City and some districts received food assistance.

He said each family received 100 kilograms of flour, 10 kilograms of rice, seven kilograms of beans, five litre cooking oil and 30 packets of nutrients.

Separately, the UNHCR with the support of WAW distributed cash assistance to 931 less fortunate families in Aibak, the provincial capital, and Dara-i-Suf Paen, Roe Do Ab, Khuram Sarbagh and Hazrat Sultan districts.

Different amount — $600, $700 and $915 distributed to each family.

Mawlavi Abdul Rahman, provincial professional secretary of the Refugees Ministry asked the beneficiaries to purchase food and other essential items by the amount they received.
