Ramazan lost all his family members in 2012 airstrike

PARON (Pajhwok): Haji Ramazan 56, from the Want Waigal district of Nuristan province lost all his family members in the past wars said he witness a lot of unfortunate things and never wanted the country to plunge in conflict again.

He asked current rulers and opposition to resolve their problems through talks and work for peace and unity instead of war.

The resident of Brawant village, he elderly man who put winter garments for sale in a plastic floor, told Pajhwok Afghan News conflict claimed all of his family members and he remained alone.

Narrating the painful story of separation from his family members his eyes welled up and said: “Back in 2012, the Taliban attacked the Want Waigal district and captured it after three days of heavy fighting. On the third night foreign forces bombard the village in which over 30 villagers were killed.”

He said eight members of his family, five sons, one daughter, wife and mother — lost their lives in the airstrike.

He added that he was not at his house on that night but when the airstrike started villagers went out of their homes but they were still targeted.

Ramazan said: “The most painful thing was that there was fighting before the airstrike and nobody was able to evacuate the bodies of their family members.”

He said most people certainly died on the spot after the airstrike, but those injured hoped for the aid and might breathed last with difficulties and hopelessness.

He said for years he grieved for the loss of his love ones but people forced him to rebuild his life.

Ramazan said now he has another marriage and two children, he has a shop in the district centre.

He is heartbroken and grieved by the incident and want halt to any kind of violence in the country so that nobody lose his love ones.

His eyes again welled up and said: “Ask from me about the unfortunate legacy of conflict. I have loss my beloved ones,” he said.

Ejazulhaq, the neighbor of Haji Ramzan, who lost his father on the night of airstrike, said the past 20 years of war brought miseries and misfortunes to him, Ramazan and thousands of other Afghans.

Top leaders should understand the pain and the problems faced by its people and forged the country towards peace and stability.

He said after regime change there were still unfortunate incident happening in the country and that made people worried regarding peace and stability in the country.

Governor Spokesperson Saifuddin Laton said people are tired from fighting and nobody wanted war in the country anymore.

He said government was trying to establish peace and stability in the country.

Referring to the incident that happened with Ramazan, he said the past 20 years of war brought pain and grieves to the people but now condition for peaceful live was provided.
