KABUL (Pajhwok): The General Department of Passport has rejected reports making the rounds on social media about resumption of passports’ issuance as ‘incorrect’, saying the department is trying to resolve existing problems and resume the distribution process.
The Passport Department tweeted on Saturday: “The reports published on some social media and Facebook pages regarding the resumption of distribution of passports are incorrect and far from truth.”
It said they were striving to resolve the existing problems and provide necessary facilities for resuming the distribution of passports.
The department asked people not to believe in such reports and follow the official addresses of the department.
Earlier, the Passport Department had said it was bringing positive changes to its technical equipment sections in order to provide better and standard services to the clients.
It had said completion of this process would take time so it was necessary to suspend the distribution process until further notice.
However, three months have passed since the passport issuance process has been stopped and as a result people are facing many problems.
Pajhwok asked the Passport Department to provide a possible date for the resumption, but it did not respond.
