KABUL (Pajhwok): Media support associations objected Abdul Haq Hammad’s, head of the Information and Cultural Affairs Ministry Broadcasting Department, remark that court will decide the fate of media outlets functioning against the interest of incumbent system while their heads had flee the country and stay in the foreign.
The Afghanistan Journalists Centre (AJC) has demanded the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) to reconsider its decision regarding some media outlets the cases of which had been referred to the court over the charges or working against the incumbent system and harming the current system.
AJC asked IEA to address media complaints through media laws and available platforms.
Hammad said in the coming days the court will announce its decision regarding some media outlets that are functioning in Afghanistan but their heads and owners are residing outside the country.
Hammad told state news agency BakhtarNews: “I hope the court will issue its verdict regarding media outlet the owners and heads of which had flee the country and working against the interest of the system and people.”
Hammad said: “Social media law is better in which the needs and certain condition of society had been taken care of but there are some problems in its implementation. The law had been reconsidered and for approval it was sent to the top leadership.”
AJC said that according to the Social Media Law referring media outlets to the court and filing cases against them was not allowed, asking to IEA official to avoid such steps and resolve media related issue through media platforms.
