MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Six districts in northern Faryab province have been cut off with Maimana, the provincial capital, due to heavy snowfall, an official said on Saturday.

Information and Cultural Affairs Director Mawlavi Shamsullah Mohammadi said roads leading to Balcharagh, Gerizwan, Lolash, Pashtonkot, Khaibarand Bandar districts had been closed due to heavy snowfall.

He said there were no reports of human and financial losses from the above mentioned district over the past three days.

The residents of Faryab said due to heavy snowfall and unprecedented cold they were in deep trouble because people have no material to heat up their homes and all water resources had been frozen.

Sakhi Dad the resident of Maimana City, who was aware of severe cold and heavy snowfall through social media, had some preparation but -22 C put him in trouble as well.

He said he turned on electric and wood-fire heaters in a room but still they were unable to control the cold weather.

Hameedullah, the resident of Balcharagh district, said water streams, wells and all other resources had been frozen and people could not find water.

Makhdom Mohammad Tariq, the resident of Lolash locality, said connectivity road of Balcharagh was disconnected two months earlier but inter-district roads were blocked two days ago due to heavy snowfall.
